Tag, you're it! Yikes! I've been tagged! Wanna know some random facts about me?

I'm honored to have been tagged by ingermaaike. I must admit that I've been tagged before by Aunt Shabby and also more recently by Little Peanut Shop. I may have been tagged by others as well, but I just can't remember! Argghh! I apologize to those that have tagged me, and I have not followed through, but to all those who have graciously considered my blog in this fun game, I am now making amends and posting at last.

According to the "game" of tag, here are seven random facts about me:
1. I have naturally red hair although both of my parents have dark brown hair. I believe that this is rather rare and have always considered it special.
2. I come from a third generation family of loggers, a.k.a. lumberjacks, on my dad's side who have a great respect and knowledge of the outdoors.
3. I am the proud parent of a furry baby, my Irish Setter, Cinnamon. And, up until yesterday, when my rabbit unfortunately passed away, I was also the proud parent of that furry baby too.
4. I have been an on again off again vegetarian. On occasion, I have gone several months to a year without eating meat. For some reason, there are just long periods of time that I don't like the taste of it and prefer soy based products.
5. I have a terrible phobia of normal to large size human and animal figure sculptures that are usually stone or metal. This can be a little annoying when trying to visit art museums. I have my husband go check all the rooms for this kind of artwork before I enter because it is not pretty to see me having a weird sculpture induced panic attack! And, I have no idea why! I've just always been this way as long as I can remember.
6. My husband and I dream of having our own fiber farm some day with an assortment of fiber producing animals like sheep, alpaca, llama, etc. I'd love to have the opportunity to raise my own fiber animals and treat them well in every respect.
7. I would eventually like to pursue a complete Masters of Fine Art degree to become a full time professor of design. Right now I am a part-time adjunct only, but I love, love, love teaching. Anyone want to donate tuition money? (hehe)

So there you have it, probably a little more about me than you ever really wanted to know. Below are the rules to the game and also my choices to tag.
The Rules:
  • Link to your tagger and list these rules on your blog.
  • Share 7 facts about yourself on your blog, some random and some weird.
  • Tag 7 people at the end of your post by leaving their names as well as links to their blogs.
  • Let them know they have been tagged by leaving a comment on their blog.

In Loving Memory of Junior Bunny, My Companion and Friend: July 4, 2002 - October 8, 2008

After a very long and difficult week, my faithful friend, loving pet, and family member, Junior Bunny, has passed away from an illness. (You can read more about my week here.) He had a long and very good life. I will miss him more than I could ever express in words. I am blessed to have had him in my life for six years. I believe that some day, I will see him again in spirit. I will look forward to that day, and in the mean time, I will continue to love him and have many fond memories.

On the left are a few of his scrapbook pages that I wanted to share in honor of Junior. In the first one, he's in his hammock relaxing. In the second one, he is a bit shy after bath time. And in the third one, he's running around our living room and hopping onto the furniture. He was a spunky little guy who thought that he was a dog or perhaps even a fellow human. I think that he was unlike any other rabbit, but I am biased.

A few things that I loved about him most . . .
when he would jump straight up and twitch his tail
when he would lick my hand, cheek, and nose as I rubbed his back
that he always made me feel loved and appreciated
and that he was such a precious companion with a unique personality -
Junior, I will miss you dearly. I am grateful that you were are a part of my life. You are in my heart forever. Thank you.

My Latest Nuno Felted Scarf Creations & A New Dress Form Display

I just wanted to share my latest batch of handmade felted nuno scarves and my new dress from display. The scarves are a combination of silk and wool. I hand dyed most of the silk scarves myself with the exception of the fringed scarves. And, of course, I hand felted each of the scarves to create their distinct one-of-a-kind look. These are now available in my Etsy shop. There are also more photos of them on flickr. And, I will be adding more listings of this style scarf to my Etsy shop and more photos to flickr as the weeks go by. It seems that I'm focused on making these for now as I really enjoy the process and results.

The lovely new dress form was a recent online purchase that arrived late last week in the mail. I do really like my mannequin head display, but I wanted to try a dress form display and be able to take photos outdoors as well as give a different perspective. I think that so far so good with the dress form. I look forward to taking more photos with it. I had thought about using a live model which seems to be the route that many fashion and accessory designers are going, but I'm going to concentrate on using my mannequin head and dress form as displays for the time being. They don't charge fee for each photo shoot and never talk back.

Please say a little prayer for Junior . . .

I wish that today was like any other Monday with me scrambling to start my week and making to do lists, but it is a little different this morning. Over the weekend my bunny, Junior, became very sick. My husband and I took him to the emergency care vet early Sunday morning. They prescribed him some antibiotics and gave him a shot to rehydrate him, but he is no better, if not worse, this morning. He doesn't want to eat or drink and is very lethargic. I made an appointment for this morning with his normal vet. I've been hoping and praying that he will recover fully. I hate to see him like this. It just breaks my heart and makes me weepy all the time. Please say a little prayer for Junior's health today. I would greatly appreciate it. Hopefully, I can post some good news about my normally spunky bunny later on this week.

UPDATE at 4:15 p.m. the same day . . . .
Well, during our vet visit today, junior had an x-ray to see if he had an obstruction. He doesn't which is a good thing. He just seems to have a lot of gas build up or bloat and some problems moving his food through his intestines. The doctor has recommended that we feed him liquids every hour as well as give him an antibiotic for his runny nose. And, if he is not eating and drinking on his own by tomorrow morning, I have to take him back to the vet's office for some alternative medication. As of this afternoon, Junior was quite a bit more alert and nibbling on some fresh green veggies and herbs. He still doesn't drink on his own, but it is a good start.
