Photos of my RADICAL New Hair Cut!! Eep!

As some of you might already know, after my baby girl was born six months ago, over half of my hair fell out. Yes, it just fell out by the fist fulls. It has now (thankfully! whew!) started to grow back in, but I am left with a large majority of my hair about a quarter of an inch in length, especially on the sides, front, and top.

Over the weekend, I went to my wonderful local hair stylist and chatted with her about what to do. The solution that we decided on was a very short "pixie" style hair cut to even out my hair length. This new cut is really radical for me! I am use to having chin length or longer bob style hair cuts. I think that I'm going to need a while to adjust. On the other hand, it is super easy to care for. It takes less than 10 minutes to blow dry and style! That's a big plus with a baby to run around after all day. As long as it is this length, I might as well have fun with it. Just wanted to share... Hope you are having a wonderful "hump day" today!

  1. It is rather short, but at least it looks like a "style", and it is a lovely shade of red too.

  4. It's a cute! Also, I know how it feels to lose large amounts of hair - it happened to me. Only heriditary was the culprit - thank god - it stopped falling out and I have enough hair to cover my head.

  5. PussDaddy, I like the idea of it, but I feel like my face is just too fat for this kind of hair cut. Thanks for the compliments! My husband told me that he thinks it make me look older :( But he's a man, what does he know. It certainly makes me feel younger :O)

It is very freeing Lynn. I agree whole-heartidly!

Dancing Monkey, maybe misery loves company, but it is nice to know that I'm not alone. Hair thinning runs in my family so I hope what I have is here to stay because it doesn't feel like much right now ;O)

    Thanks all!!

  6. I'm glad you went with the short cut. It looks like a real 'style', now and I think it's better to exert some control over something that might make you feel a little powerless..."Take that, hair follicles!!" Grin.

  7. Your hair looks cute Shalana. Hair loss after pregnancy should resolve over time. Hang in there.... I actually have days that I get so frustruated with my hair, I wish I could just do a 'Sinead O Connor' and call it a day!

  8. It can be scary, I had to cut all my hair off after a bad bleaching accident in college. I was self conscious about for a while, but then you realize you can't hide anymore & it's very freeing!! Gotta work with what you got!! You look FABULOUS!!

  9. Looks GREAT! You're a fiber artist and we know, Funky so you just did you usual with your own funky fiber follicles. I'm a short hair person and have cut my own, dyed it lots of colors (not at one time - well, maybe 3). It is fun!!
