Just a little warning . . . beware if you use Google Alerts, a good service that has been affected by bad spammers!

Just a heads up for you if you use Google Alerts. It is Google's service to notify you when a keyword or phrase has been searched. Apparently the spammers are out in force and have figured out a way to take advantage of this fun and informative service. I had the unfortunate experience of falling victim to the spam on two of my recent Google Alerts emails and almost fell victim to a virus download, but I think that I was able to close out my browser before that happened. For now, I've deleted my Google Alerts features which makes me a little sad. Hopefully, I can use the free service later when this issue has been dealt with.

Here's a good article that I found on the topic:

  1. Thanks for the heads up. I have been getting heaps of spam didn't realise it was because of the google alerts. Dishonest people spoil all the fun.

  2. Hi, Shalana- I'm impressed with all the technical advice you have on your blog. I invite guest artists often on mine and would love to have you do an article on how to prepare for the Fall season, some kind of a check list for other sellers. (And, of course, we would pepper it with images of your work!) http://fiberfocus.blogspot.com/

I also recently started a social network that's a companion (but independent) to my blog. We're still very small, but a good group. You would be a great asset there! (Consider yourself and your readers invited!) http://fiberfocus.ning.com/

Wishing you all the best! Sorry about all your recent woes...
