I had my ob/gyn appointment today for my 16 week pregnancy check up and all is well. At first, the nurse couldn't find the baby's heartbeat so I ended up having an ultrasound today. This was quite unexpected. I was scheduled for an ultrasound next time at my March appointment to determine the sex of the baby and plan to have another one then so that my husband can attend. This time, I got to see the baby's head, tummy, legs, and arms. The umbilical cord was between the baby's legs so it was hard to tell if it was a boy or a girl.
I have felt this entire time that it would be a boy and even had dreams about little strawberry blonde haired boys, but the ultrasound technician said that she was leaning toward it being a girl from a couple of brief unobstructed views that she had. We should find out for sure next time, and I can't wait!! I was hoping to know today. I want to start buying baby stuff and decorating the nursery soon, but I have been waiting on finding out the sex of the baby first. (If it is a boy, it will probably be a farm animals theme. If it is a girl, it will probably be ladybugs and flowers them.) Although I had kind of anticipated a boy, I really don't care either way. I will be very happy with a healthy baby boy or girl. I'm just anxious to know for decorating purposes at this point! I'm feel very blessed and thankful that everything is normal so far. And, I'm having every pregnancy symptom in the book (fatigue, nausea, heartburn, dizziness, headaches, faintness, etc.!), but the doctor said that is quite normal too. Maybe when I update my readers next month, I'll know whether it is a boy or girl for sure! Yay!
The suspense is too much, isn't it? I'm not even pregnant, my best friend is, but I want to know what its going to be right now!!! I have baby blankets to knit - I need to know what color yarn to buy.
ReplyDeleteMy friend (the pregnant one) once went to a psychic and was told she would have twin girls. She also had her palm read by a friend a couple of years later and was told she would have twin girls, or two girls very close in age. So we're waiting to see if that comes true!
Congrats! Sounds so exciting o^^o!!
ReplyDeleteI too was sure I was pregnant with a boy. Well she is a beautiful lady :-) As for my second daughter, we could not find out until she was born, she just did not want to show. It was 25 years ago... Anyway, it does not matter at the end, it is a baby :-)
ReplyDeleteSounds like things are going good!
ReplyDeleteIsn't it funny that you don't know what it is.. but it is what it is already.
(Now I'm getting philosophical!)
I am 9 days from my due date and SO excited!
take care!
